Atmosfy is a private company headquartered in San Francisco, California.[1] It develops a mobile app by the same name where users post and browse short videos from local restaurants, bars, and other local businesses.[1][2] The app serves about 10,000 cities in 150 countries. As of 2023, it had videos for more than 1 million local businesses.[3][4]
Atmosfy was founded in 2021 by current CEO Michael Ebel, who previously served as global project manager for at Instagram.[2][3] In August 2023, Atmosfy raised $12 million in seed funding.[2]
TechCrunch described the Atmosfy app as "Yelp meets TikTok."[2] Users upload videos and information about the bar, restaurant, or other business they were at. They can also add tags and other details.[2] Then, users see a real-time feed of videos from businesses near them.[3] Each city has its own video feed.[3] Users can also search for videos using hashtags, location, price, type of restaurant, or other filters.[2]
Nation's Restaurant News described it as a more positive alternative to Yelp, because users generally post positive videos, rather than bad experiences or complaints.[4]
