Peter Santa-Maria, known professionally as Attack Peter, is an American artist and designer based in Miami, FL. He is a printmaking expert who has gained a dedicated fan following through his original designs and prints of pop culture icons. Peter’s hand-made linoleum block prints have been commissioned by Marvel, Sideshow, and more. He is influenced by traditional imagery from Thailand and American traditional tattoo flash.[1]
Style
Attack Peter's primary medium is the linocut printing technique. Each print begins as a piece of linoleum where ideas are sketched using various markers. Peter opts to keep sketches loose as a means to develop a piece's composition. He then carves out the negative space and fine tunes all the details as he progresses towards a finished piece. Ink is then rolled onto the carving and lokta paper is pressed onto the carving. The most striking aspect of each print is the stark contrast of primarily black inks against white or cream colored paper. Each print is hand-made.[2] [3]
Takoro
Takoro is a kaiju-like creature created by Attack Peter. Takoro is a Dorok from the planet Barong-Khai and is the primary character in Peter's Takoro-verse. With Skybound, Peter launched a Kickstarter campaign to create a narrative art book called Takoro: The Last Dorok and produce a figure that looks like a 3D linocut print.
