During the late '80s, Attic Muse played a major part of the Cape Town alternative band music scene. With Safron Hendry (nee Balzer) on vocals, Arnold Vermark on drums, Antony Bull on bass and Stewart Crawford-Brown on guitar, Attic Muse were the winners of the 1990 Battle of the Bands and supported No Friends of Harry when they appeared in Cape Town. Safron later went on to form Wicca with Ross, Greg Steele and Eric Weymeyer while Stuart, Arnald and Antony joined Greg Donnely in the Dolly Rockers.
