Atul Patki (Born November 8th, 1965) is an ultramarathoner, originally from India and now settled in America. He ran his first marathon, Marine Corps Marathon [1] in Washington, D.C. in 2007 at the age of 42. In April 2011, he went to the North Pole for a snowmobile expedition. During that time, he did snowmobile expeditions in Svalbard at various places.
In 2013, he ran the North Pole full marathon and became one of the few people who went to the North Pole multiple times for any kind of sports activities. In 2013, he also finished the prestigious full Marathon in Iceland [2] along with both his daughters.
In 2014, he took part in a self-supported 250 km 4 Desert Marathons. He became the first Indian to get the Grand Slam of 4 Deserts. With this, he got into the prestigious club of "4 Desert Club" and "Grand Slam of 4 Desert".[3]
He has written a book on his 4 desert marathon journey titled "King of 4 Deserts"[4] (English), and ("४ वाळवंटांचा राजा") [5]
Atul Patki is a Limca Book of Records [6] and India Book of Records [7] holder for being the first Indian to run successfully 4 Deserts (250 km * 4 races) in a calendar year (2014). He finished all 4 deserts on his 49th birthday.
