August Pfluger II (born 1977 or 1978) is an American military officer and political candidate from the state of Texas. He is a Republican candidate in the 2020 elections seeking to represent Texas's 11th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.
Pfluger descends from Henry Pfluger Sr., who founded Pflugerville, Texas.[2] He attended Central High School in San Angelo, Texas, where he played for the school's American football team as a quarterback.[3][4] He then attended the United States Air Force Academy.[5] Pfluger earned master's degrees from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, Air University, and Georgetown University.[2]
Pfluger earned his commission to the United States Air Force in 2000,[2] and served in active duty for 20 years, reaching the rank of lieutenant colonel. He served on the United States National Security Council (NSC) for three months during the presidency of Donald Trump. He resigned from the NSC to run for the United States House of Representatives for Texas's 11th congressional district in the 2020 elections.[6] He won the Republican Party primary election to become the Republican nominee.[7][8] He will face Democrat Jon Mark Hogg and Libertarian Wacey Alpha Cody in the November general election.[2]
Pfluger and his wife, Camille, have three daughters.[5]
