Aurora Gulli

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Aurora Gullì is an Italian inventor. In November 2017, at the age of 6, she received a patent.[1]

She is thought to be the youngest woman to have been co-granted a patent for their invention from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Invention[edit]

In 2014, at the age of 3, Aurora saw her father turning off the light in her house. Believing that there must be an easier way to do the job, Aurora together with her brothers, Leonardo and Lorenzo, proposed to develop a plug which controls when to switch off the light automatically. Their father, excited by by their spark of creativity, decided to file a patent on 31th, July 2014[2]. The patent was granted 3 years later on 11th, November 2017, when Aurora was 6 years old[3][4] [5]

Inspiration[edit]

Aurora and her brothers have been inspired by energy saving programs installed on many mobile phones, by her father's passion for computer algorithms, and by her brothers' passion for engineering.

Patent[edit]

The patent was more about letting Aurora have some fun and allow her to express her creativity rather than market a specific product. However, Aurora has 20 years to develop the product before the patent will expire
