The Austin Capitals were a planned team of the American Basketball Association set to begin play for the 2009-10 season. The Capitals' owner was Sammy Davis, who played in the National Football League for the San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2003-2007. After his playing days, he went on to be the co-founder of C.S.S. Investments.
The Capitals would have competed for fan attention with the NBA Development League's Austin Toros. The team did not launch as scheduled.
