Australian Arts Review is an arts and culture periodical published by the Australia Foundation for Culture and Humanities in Melbourne.[1] [2] It is not to be confused with Australian Arts Review, a website dedicated to the performing and visual arts.[3]

The periodical traces its roots from AUSCON, which was first published by the National Centre for Research and Development in Australian Studies in 1990 at Clayton, Victoria. The publication contains conference printouts from the Australian Studies Database or AUSBASE of the Centre. It was published monthly from 1990 to 1992 and printed bi-monthly from 1992 to 1996. Monash University and the National Centre for Australian Studies were the other authors or contributors.[4]

In 1996, the periodical became Talking about Australia published by the Australia Foundation for Culture and the Humanities in Melbourne. It contained the Australian Arts Review calendar of events.[5]

The publication was later renamed in 1997 into Australian Arts Review / Australia Foundation for Culture and the Humanities[6] or Australian Arts Review.[7] It was published along with the State of the Arts magazine in East Sydney, New South Wales from 1997 to 1998.[8]
