Australian Energy Council
The Australian Energy Council is the national industry body representing businesses operating in the competitive wholesale and retail energy markets. Its members collectively generate the overwhelming majority of electricity in Australia and sell gas and electricity to over ten million homes and businesses.[1]
The Australian Energy Council began operation on 1 January 2016. Its inaugural Chief Executive was Matthew Warren who was succeeded by Sarah McNamara in July 2018.
