The Australian Institute of Macedonian Studies or AIMS is a not-for-profit organisation[1][2] that undertakes academic research[3] related to the history and culture of Macedonia. The organisation was founded in 1986 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The current President of the Australian Institute of Macedonian Studies is Anastasios Tamis,[4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] [13][14] [15] an Australian based academic in Sociolinguistics on the Greek language and the History of the Greek Diaspora who has lectured at a number of Australian universities. Prominent academics that are part of the AIMS advisory committee include Georgios Babiniotis (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), Iakovos Michaelidis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Vassilios Pappas (Society for Macedonian Studies), Michael Damanakis (University of Crete), George Georgis (University of Cyprus) and Ioannis Hassiotis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).
