Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation
The Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation is an Austrian non-profit foundation established in 1999 to promote academic and scientific exchange between Austria and the United States.
The foundation was created in the context of the legacy of the Marshall Plan and is financed through resources from the Austrian ERP-Fonds (European Recovery Program Fund).
History
The foundation was established on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the European Recovery Program (ERP). The ERP originated from the reconstruction initiative for Europe proposed by George C. Marshall in 1947 following World War II.
In Austria, Marshall Plan funds were consolidated into a revolving fund known as the ERP Fund. Revenues generated by the fund are used to finance economic and structural policy measures. Part of these resources was allocated to establish the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation.[1]
Activities
The foundation supports transatlantic exchange in science and research.[2]

A particular focus lies on programs in science, technology, engineering, and related fields. According to the foundation, its alumni network includes more than 1,300 scholarship recipients and researchers. The foundation cooperates with universities and research institutions in Austria and the United States.
Organization
The foundation is managed by an executive board. Karin Emprechtinger serves as Executive Director, and Kerstin Derntl as Deputy Director. The president of the foundation is Austrian diplomat Wolfgang Petritsch.
