Austy Lee
Austy Lee (Chinese: 李振邦; pinyin: Lǐ Zhènbāng) is a jewellery designer born and raised in Hong Kong, China. He launched his eponymous jewellery brand, aUSTY LEE, in 2017, and established his first design studio in Central, Hong Kong. Guided by his distinctive vision - "When Jewellery is Psychedelic Art"[1][2] - Lee has built a reputation for bold, avant-garde creations[3] that merge artistry with craftmanship.
Early life
Lee was born in Hong Kong in 1981. From a early age, he developed a deep fascination with art, design, fashion, and history. [4]His creative journey was further influenced by his uncle, an accomplished artisan specialising in bone-teeth and jade carvings, artifact restoration, and traditional antique craftsmanship.
When Lee was in pursuit of education, he originally wanted to become a fashion designer. However, due to the competitiveness of Fashion Design courses, Lee was not able to gain admission. Instead, Lee attended gemstone setting courses and eventually completed a Product Design Diploma. One of the mentors in Product Design admired Lee’s drawing skills and, coincidentally, referred Lee to work as an intern in jewelry design at UJDC (Universal Jewellery Design Center Limited). This opportunity paved the way for Lee to become a jewelry designer.[5][6]
Career
Lee trained in jewelry design with Swiss house Adler in Hong Kong before working as chief designer for jeweller Wendy Yue[7]. His tenure with these internationally recognized maisons provided rigorous professional development, refining his artistry as a fine jewelry designer and cultivating his expertise as a discerning gemstone buyer. Engaged with an elite clientele, Lee was entrusted to conceive and execute exceptional creations distinguished by rare gemstones and precious materials. His work has been showcased on Hollywood luminaries and prominent figures worldwide, underscoring his reputation for excellence in contemporary high jewelry.
In April 2017, Lee inaugurated his own fine jewelry brand and established his first design studio in Hong Kong. The debut collection, entitled The Psychedelic Light[8], introduced a distinctive aesthetic that fused art, graphics, and visual expression inspired by psychedelic experiences and altered states of perception. Characterized by vivid chromatic compositions reminiscent of Kabbalistic and mandala motifs, the works reveal successive layers of intricate geometric patterning. Each piece conveys a singular, enigmatic vision imbued with an oriental sensibility, evoking a fantasy world of mystery and refinement.
Lee's creations have gained attention worldwide, being interviewed by international press and journalist such as South China Morning Post, Financial Times, Vogue Hong Kong, Tatler etc. His jewelleries pieces were also sold in renouned boutiques such as Harrods, Harvery Nichols, JOYCE boutique Hong Kong, Lane Crawford.
