Avidbots
Avidbots is a Canadian robotics company that designs, creates, manufactures, sells and services fully autonomous floor cleaning robots for the industrial and commercial markets.[1]
Neo, Avidbots’ fully autonomous floor scrubbing robot, manages floor care and surface disinfection across numerous industries, including warehousing, education, airports and transit, healthcare, retail and manufacturing[2][3].
History
Avidbots was founded in 2014 by two University of Waterloo mechatronics engineering graduates, Faizan Sheikh and Pablo Molina.[4]
Headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Avidbots has grown from a small start-up to over 300 staff.
Avidbots has raised $106.4 million USD[5] from seed and funding rounds, including:
- Series A (May 2018): $3 million USD
- Series B (March 2019): $23.6 million USD
- Series C (September 2022): $70 million USD
Global presence
Avidbots sells and services robots on five continents, with offices in Canada, U.S, Colombia, India, Japan, South Korea, and Australia. As of 2022, Avidbots has more than 1,000 robots deployed globally in over a dozen countries.[6]
Product
Neo is a fully autonomous floor scrubbing robot that cleans, scrubs and sanitizes commercial and industrial facilities of different shapes and sizes. Over the years Neo has received updates and add-ons to expand its functionality.[7]
Neo relies on software, machine learning and a suite of 10 sensors to navigate facilities without a human present[8]. Avidbots Autonomy, Neo’s artificial intelligence (AI), allows it to navigate busy facilities while it cleans, avoiding people and objects on the fly as it learns and adapts to its environment.[9]
Avidbots Command Center is a web-based app that enables users to observe, track and evaluate Neo’s cleaning performance. Cleaning statistics assist managers and staff in quantifying cleaning performance.[10][11]
In 2021, Avidbots released the Disinfection Add-On[12] (DSX) for Neo. DSX increases Neo’s range of capabilities with an electrostatic sprayer to disinfect high-touch surfaces.

Awards and Recognition
Avidbots was recognized by Deloitte as one of the top 50 fastest growing Canadian technology companies in 2020[13][14].
Avidbots has received recognition for its workplace culture from Great Place to Work Canada, receiving certification for the years 2019[15], 2020, 2021 and 2022[16]
The British Standards Institute (BSI) awarded Avidbots ISO 9001 and 27001 Certifications in recognition of its management systems and information security standards for the design, manufacturing, supply and service of autonomous floor scrubbing machines.[17]
