Avinode is an online platform for buying and selling private air charter. It was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2001 by the three masters students Niklas Berg, Niclas Wennerholm and Per Marthinsson at the Chalmers University of Technology School of Entrepreneurship. The headquarter is located in Gothenburg, and US offices in Miami and Portland.
Avinode timeline[edit]
2002
The Avinode Marketplace goes live with 55 available aircraft and seven employees. Danish Operator North Flying becomes the first paying member.
2003
Avinode makes its trade show debut at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Geneva.
2004
The Company celebrates break-even and becomes profitable.
2006
Avinode Marketplace hits the 1000 aircraft mark and Avinode Inc. is incorporated in Miami marking the beginning of the US expansion.
2008
The Company launches Avinode Business Intelligence and is honoured the fast-growing company title “Gazelle” by Dagens Industri, Sweden’s premiere business newspaper.
2010
Avinode acquires its US marketplace competitor, CharterX, along with its subsidiaries Wyvern Ltd and SchedAero. Avinode launches Avinode Apps and the Latin American office opens in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
2011
Avinode Business Intelligence is featured in Time Magazine and holds a press conference at the annual NBAA convention in Las Vegas.
2013
Avinode launches Avinode customer APIs.
2014
Wyvern Ltd, providing air charter safety information, is divested in June 2014.
2014
World Fuels Services becomes a large shareholder.
2016
Avinode launches PayNode, a Payment service provider for the business aviation industry.
2017
Avinode is awarded best service provider in Asia by Asian Business Aviation Association.
