Avocado Green Mattress is an American direct-to-consumer manufacturer of organic mattresses, pillows and bedding[1]. It is a privately-held company headquartered in New Jersey[2] with a manufacturing unit in Los Angeles[3]. It was co-founded in 2015 by Jay Decker, Mark Abrials, Melissa Kruse, Jeff D'Andrea, Alexandra D'Andrea and Dan D'Andrea[4][5][6]. The Avocado Mattress is Greenguard Gold certified[7] by UL Environment and handmade with Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton and wool[8], as well as Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) certified organic latex[9]. In 2018, the company also launched a vegan mattress made without wool[10].
Avocado Green Mattress is a member of 1% For the Planet organization and donates a percent of its revenue to environmental nonprofits[11]. In 2018, the mattress manufacturer contributed to 12 nonprofits including the development of Kula Women’s Center in Rwanda[12] and food for New Yorkers through City Harvest[13].
