Avonburg is an unincorporated community in Pleasant Township, Switzerland County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.[1]
History
An old variant name of the community was called Soapville.[2] An 1885 county history describes Avonburg as a "cross-road settlement" with a "first class country store."[3] That crossroads is the intersection of Pleasant Grove Road and Soapville Road, about 7/10ths of a mile east of the intersection of Soapville Rd. and Indiana State Road 129.
