Axel Elmblad is a Swedish orienteer who competes in foot orienteering. He is best known for his sprint performances at the Junior World Orienteering Championships and as a Junior World Champion in sprint.
Junior career
Elmblad first reached the junior world podium at the Junior World Orienteering Championships 2021 in Turkey, where he won the bronze medal in the sprint. The following year he returned to JWOC as one of the favourites in the sprint discipline.
At JWOC 2022 in Aguiar da Beira, Portugal, Elmblad won the men's sprint with a time of 13:45, finishing 26 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. The result gave him the junior world title in sprint. He also competed in the sprint relay and forest races at the same championships as part of the Swedish junior team.
Senior career
Following his junior successes, Elmblad has continued to compete internationally for Sweden. He has raced in IOF‑sanctioned events across sprint and forest disciplines and appears in the International Orienteering Federation World Ranking. His JWOC sprint title is regarded as one of the standout junior performances of recent years and helped establish him among the leading young sprint orienteers.
