Maitrise[edit]
The "Maîtrise" or "Maîtrise universitaire" degree is a former french diploma which was awarded from 1966 to 2006 after a four-year study period at University. Since the introduction of the LMD system in 2004, this degree is no longer awarded and has been replaced by the Master 1, or first year of Masters Degree.
In most countries, the "Maitrise" is equivalent to a Post Graduate degree.
In Canada, it is recognised as a Master degree.[1]
