Meidingu Ayangba Sari Langkhong Chongba or mononymously Ayangba (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.) was a Meitei monarch of the Ningthouja dynasty of Ancient Kangleipak (early Manipur). He ruled from 821 CE to 910 CE.[1][2]

During his reign, while hunting, a domestic animal escaped from the kingdom towards Moicha Hills and they chased it. All the Nongyai Khumans took it as an insult as the animal had entered their land. So, all the Khumans challenged the Meiteis and the Meiteis were victorious. In the battle, they captured, Thingaruk Kokchaoba, Thingkaruk Ngangsaba, Thingaruk Nungnang and Ahui Kambong the brave.[1]

Since Ayangba ran fast and jumped across the battle trench, he was nicknamed Ayangba Sari Langkhong Chongba.[lower-alpha 1]

Notes

  1. Made up of four words: Ayangba - one who runs fast; Sari - athletic; Langkhong - war trench; Chongba - to jump.
