Ayanjit Sen has had a long career as journalist and author before venturing into films. He was educated in Delhi University with History (Hons) from Ramjas College. He also did his Post graduate diploma in Journalism from New Delhi YMCA before starting off his career as a Reporter in The Statesman newspaper. Thereafter, he went for his master's degree in Journalism and Cultural Studies, from the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, Cardiff University, UK. He worked for the BBC in Delhi[1] for nearly seven years before moving to the CNN International in Delhi and HongKong as the Assignment Editor[2]. He also worked for the India Today Group Digital as its founding Associate Editor and then as India Editor (Digital) for ESPN STAR Sports before moving to Times Now news channel as its Assignment Editor. His last job as a journalist was as Editor (Digital) of Ebela[3] - part of ABP Digital in Kolkata.

He co-founded an international film company (Mumbai, Gurgaon and Los Angeles) named – La Pelicula Motion Pictures[4]. He is also the MD of the company.

His films roam around the true facts of everyday life and relationships. His films also look into different upcoming and silent facets of our society. He has forayed into Bollywood with his two short ventures in six months – Daayra and Blue Lies[5]

His work in journalism and films has won several awards in India and abroad. His edited website has got an honourable mention in World Digital Awards in Washington in 2018. The website under him also won the best Social Media Award in the Asia Digital News Awards in 2018.

He has also won the Global Visionary Award 2019 for his Digital Strategy, Dada Saheb Phalke Icon award 2019 (given by private organisations and press), Indian Star's award 2019 and the Indian Celebrity Award 2019 in Mumbai.
