Aydin Nuralin (Kazakh: Айдын Нұралин, born July 14th 1995, Karaganda, Kazakhstan), also known by the stage-name black cumin oil (Russian: масло черного тмина) is a Kazakh hip-hop artist and rapper. Aydin's rise to fame began when fellow Russian rapper Haski shouted him out on his VKontakte blog.[1] The videoclip for his track "president's office 2" garnered more than 10 million views on YouTube before it was deleted.[2]
Stage name[edit]
The pseudonym "black cumin oil" was happened upon by chance. Aydin regards it as a fitting description for his musical style: viscous, dark, and enveloping, with a plethora of noises that create an almost physical texture. Aydin also states that his music heals him, which mirrors the claimed healing properties of black cumin oil.
Musical style[edit]
Aydin's musical style has been described as a combination of hip-hop, rap, jazz, blues, and trip-hop, giving a heavy, melancholic sound to his music.
