Ayodele Enitan Vincent (born 18 February 1980), also known by her stage name Ayo Vincent, is a Nigerian gospel artiste, worship leader, songwriter, music director and Author[1]. She started her musical journey at the age of eight (8) years as part of her school's choir. She professionally started her music career in 1999 as a backup singer for various artistes.[2][3] In 2012, under the Inner fire Entertainment label, Ayo Vincent released her debut album titled I Am Yours,[2][3] and since she has increasingly gained popularity through her songs and music videos both local and internationally.[1]

Personal life and education

Ayo Vincent was born to Reverend Sunmbo Quashie and Felicia Bajulaiye on 18 February 1980, and grew up with her six siblings in Ojuelegba, Lagos.[1] Her father is native to Lagos, whereas her mother is from Delta (then Bendel) in Nigeria.[1]

Ayo Vincent's interest in music began at a young age, starting at age eight. Ayo was active in school productions in her Primary School, where she sang background vocal and solos, acted and danced as she was also a member of the cultural troop[1][2].

She was baptized at the age of twelve (12) years and was an active member in the protestant fellowship Choir in her Secondary school; Queens College Yaba, Lagos, often taking solos[1].

Ayo Vincent received a Bachelor of Science in economics from Lagos State University.[1] While at university, she was music director for the Believers Love World Campus Fellowship and was a band member for Graces Vibez that performed at various organizational and private ceremonial events[1][2]. Shortly after graduating from university, Ayo left the Believers Love World Campus Fellowship and joined the Christ Embassy Choir where she was assigned the post of the Zonal Music Director of Christ Embassy Lagos zone 5 for a 4-year duration, while she continually developed her musical career as an independent artiste[1][2][3].

Ayo met her now-husband, Hilary Vincent, at Christ Embassy Church when she joined the church choir. They married 25 June 2005, and have four children.[1]

Music

After graduating from university, Ayo Vincent served as the Zonal Music Director of Christ Embassy Lagos zone 5 for four years,[1][2] where she has performed at several Christ Embassy events and programs around the world both as an artist and as a leader of one of the church’s zonal musical group coordinators including in South Africa, Europe, United Kingdom and several West African countries.[1][2][4][5][6][7][2]

Ayo Vincent's debut album, "I Am Yours", was released in November 2012 and features Joe Praize and Don Jazzy,[1] among other gospels artists.[2][3][7][6] She has since released several other singles, including “You Are Great” (2012), released in 2012, “Serve the lord” (2014) featuring Don Jazzy in 2014,[8]Your Presence is Here” (2019). As of July 2023, the music video for "You Are Great" has 1.1 million views.[9]

Ayo Vincent has made concert headlines and had stage performances in events such as Rockfest 2.0[1][10][11], Christmas with Sinach and Friends[12][5][13][1][2][5][10][13] On 30 June 2023, Ayo Vincent released her latest musical project "Supernatural EP".[1][3]

Writing

Ayo Vincent published her debut book, Starting Over, in 2020,[14] stating that her aim is to reach out to individuals all over the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.[1]

In February 2022, she released a children's book, "Dear Heavenly Father".[15][1][16] The book landed at the top of Amazon's list of the 100 bestselling Christian children's books available on Kindle.[15][1][16]
