Azadi is an Indian musical short film in Hindi language, which released on 11th August, 2023[1]. Its runtime is 13 minutes and 47 seconds.

Plot[edit]

When a group of four young friends meet, a debate ensues about the current socio-political situation of India. While three of them have a cynical approach and apathy towards the country, a girl defends India with logical rebuttals to their accusations. The debate turns into a heated discussion when one girl claims that there is no freedom (Azadi) in India and that the liberty is just namesake. When the debate reaches a stale-mate, the nationalist girl wishes that the other three experience the Indian Independence Movement to learn the true value of freedom. Her wish comes true and the trio gets transported into time where they go from one era to another and witness the violence, sacrifices and deaths that won India its Independence.

About the film[edit]

Azadi's song and soundtrack is composed by Siddharth Kasyap[2], a Mumbai based composer and music label owner. Azadi's lyrics are penned by Shakeel Azmi and is sung by popular playback singer Mohit Chauhan.[3]

The short film is conceptualised, written and directed by Anshul Vijayvargiya .[4][5] It features an ensemble cast with Nishi Saxena, Viraj Kapoor, Yadnesh Kamulkar and Anjali Krishna in leading roles.[6][7]

Azadi's premiere was held in Nagpur, Maharashtra and was launched by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of GOI[8] and then released on the YouTube channel of the music label SK Music Works[9].[10]
