Azusa Itagaki (Japanese: 板垣あずさ Hepburn: Itagaki Azusa) is a Japanese gravure model and AV idol.
Life and career[edit]
Itagaki was born on November 23, 1988[1] in Niigata, Japan.[citation needed] She debuted as a finalist in the 2004 All Japan High School Girl Uniform Collection System gravure contest, also known as Seikore (制コレ).[2] In 2005, she debuted in a swimsuit gravure video, Cotton Candy, produced by Line Communications and filmed in Bali.[3]
In August 2007, she opened her official blog, 3 Minutes Cooking Azusa (あずさの3分クッキング Azusa no 3-fun kukkingu), and, in September 2007, she announced her switch from gravure modeling to AV, signing an exclusive contract with the label Soft On Demand (SOD).[4] Her debut movie for SOD, Entertainer Azusa Itagaki Debut, was released in November 2007.[5][6] Despite her late start, Itagaki was one of the most popular AV actresses for the year 2007, ranking at #6 on the list of 100 best selling actresses at the video retailer DMM (part of the Hokuto Corporation).[7] She was listed in the #10 spot at DMM for 2008,[8] and, after a year at SOD, columnist Kemuta Ōtsubo considered her to be the mainstay of the company.[9] In 2009, she ranked at #70 on the DMM list,[10] and she was nominated for the Best Actress Award at the 2009 Adult Broadcasting Awards.[11]
Also in 2009, Itagaki starred in the erotic suspense V-Cinema release Chateau - Confinement (シャトー -監禁- Shatō - Kankin).[12]
In 2010, Itagaki retired from AV. Her final work, Entertainer Azusa Itagaki retirement (芸能人 板垣あずさ 引退 Geinōjin Itagaki Azusa intai), was released by Soft On Demand on 4 March 2010.[citation needed] After her retirement, she worked in a cabaret club in Tokyo, and she appeared at several public events.[13] She came back into the adult industry in December 2012.[13]
