B.I.B.S. (Brno International Business School) is a private university based in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic.[1] B.I.B.S. provides degree programs in business and administration in partnership with partner universities from Great Britain, Finland and Sweden. B.I.B.S. cooperates with prominent Czech and international companies such as Siemens, Demag Delaval, Turbomachine Industry, Commercial Bank, Vitkovice Steel, Exhibitions and Fairs Brno, and The Economic Chamber of the City of Brno.[2]
History
1998: B.I.B.S. was founded as Brno International Business School.
2005: B.I.B.S. received the official recognition by the Ministry of Education and acquired the status of a private school under Czech law.
2008: B.I.B.S. is ranked as the second-best business school in Czech Republic by Eduniversal in the category “Excellent Business School, nationally strong and with continental links”.[3]
2009: B.I.B.S. grew steadily to become the largest provider of MBA programs in the Czech Republic with up to 568 students.[4]
2009, cooperation was initiated with the Finnish University of Jyväskylä in providing an international doctoral program for entrepreneurs and managers.
2011: B.I.B.S. became a member of the AMSP CR thus confirming its core mission, namely to assist to the development of local Small and medium sized firms.[5]
2012: Creation and delivery of European Commission funded program in Strategic Management for SMEs managers/owners.[5]
2015: in amongst a total number of 3000 foreign and Czech students.[6]
2019: Milos Drdla is nominated as new dean with the mission to continue the development of B.I.B.S. and strengthen the school’s innovative teaching approaches and international coverage.
2020: B.I.B.S. is ranked by the Eduniversal ranking as an excellent Business School with three palms.[7]
International
The key partners of B.I.B.S. were British universities such as Staffordshire University and Nottingham Trent University, which gave the license to deliver BA (Hons), MSc, MBA, and LLM.
B.I.B.S. works closely with many Czech universities such as Industrial Economics Faculty of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Mendel University Brno.[5] But B.I.B.S. also cooperate with foreign universities such as the Istituto Formazione Operatori Aziendali and Universita degli Studi di Trento in Italy, the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, Ume University in Sweden, Kopernik University of Torun in Poland, the University of Mainz in Germany,[2] VSM University (Slovakia) and Jonchoping International Business School (Sweden; JIBS).[5] Thanks to these partnerships, 9% of students at B.I.B.S. comes from abroad.[8]
Programs
B.I.B.S. specializes in both economic-managerial and legal fields. The programs are attractive thanks to a very high success rate of 96%.[9] Its economic-managerial programmes belongs among the top best in Czech Republic.[6] Moreover, the school also focuses on commercial law in general and especially on international commercial law.
