B. Venkat Rao
BIOGRAPHY: Late Dr B Venkat rao is a renowned Surgeon from Shivamogga, Karnataka . He was born to hoteliers Narayan Rao and Bhagirathi on 19th July 1943 in the Bantwal town of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka . His family moved to Sangli District of Maharashtra. Dr Venkat Rao returned to Karnataka for his Medical Education.
Dr B Venkat Rao pursued his Medical Degree (MBBS) and his Post-Graduate degree (Master in Surgery) from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. He also is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS) and is renowned for his Surgical Skills. He got married to Dr Arundhathi Rao, a renowned Gynaecologist. He worked in his Alma Mater as an Assistant professor.
In 1976, Dr Venkat Rao & Dr Arundhathi Rao moved to Shivamogga District of Karnataka where they established one of the finest hospitals in Shivamogga- Usha Nursing Home. Dr Venkat Rao made sure his hospital was the first to have all the latest medical technology.
He is known in Shivamogga not only as a skilled Surgeon, but also as a Patron of Classical arts, a Generous Donor and a Social Worker. He is associated with many of Shivamogga's Social organisations.
He made a mark in many fields like medicine, music, construction, social work, education, scholarships, arts and many more.

Dr Venkat Rao was born to hoteliers Sangli Narayan Rao and Bhagirathi in Bantwal. He is married to renowned Gynaecologist Dr Arundhathi Rao and has three children- Usha Rao, Uday Rao and Soudhamini Rao who are all doctors.
DEATH: Dr B Venkat Rao passed away on 7th October 2018[3]
