The Great Heist
On the night of June 20th (wip), 2017, a group of agitated scouts numbering between 10–15 of Troop 502 launched a surprise attack against Camp Rainey Mountain in Clayton, Georgia under the leadership of Carter Littleton and Joseph "Miles" Derrick, the future SPL. The motives remain unclear, but the majority of leading scholars and historians agree that they were motivated by revenge as the staff had openly insulted and humiliated Troop 502 and any troop outside of Georgia. The staff frequently engaged in crude and offensive language, saying slurs and other derogatory terms. The staff were biased and no troop outside of Georgia received a single reward. It is for these actions that Troop 502 decided to act and on June 20th (wip), the last night before they were scheduled to leave in the morning, they made their attack.
Troop 502 began mobilizing under Littleton and Derrick at around 10 P.M., although plans had already been in motion since at least the day prior. The plan was to launch a preemptive assault upon the trading post to prevent the staff from mustering a large enough force to resist. Troop 502 waited until late at night to catch the staff asleep and unprepared, and at 2:30 A.M. the scouts left their designated campsite, while two scouts were left behind to guard the camp. The scouts were divided into two columns, one led by Littleton hugged the left side of the road adjacent to the field, while the other under Derrick hugged the right side of the road closest to the woods. The operation was going well until a patrol of staff in a pickup truck arrived and initially surprised the scouts, with one scout, Jathin, almost being killed in the process, although the scouts were able to maintain order and successfully remaining undetected as they did so. At 3:30 A.M. they arrived at the trading post and immediately sentries were established blocking all passage and to prevent a counterattack, giving time for the heist of the vending machines; between 30 and 50 sodas were liberated. With the heist successful, the scouts returned, arriving back at their campsite at 4:30 A.M. Troop 502 was never caught as they left early the next morning, and the staff would never find out who was responsible and would become deeply rooted in Troop 502 myth and legend.
