BTM-3 (Russian: БТМ – Быстроходная транчейная машин) is a Soviet-era trenching machine.[1]

It features a large rotor with buckets at its back, which unloads dug soil to create parapets one-and-a-half feet tall both front and back.[1] It is said to be able to cut straight, zigzagging or curved trenches; these can be either three-and-a-half or five feet deep (ca. 1–1.5 m), while the width at the bottom is about two feet (ca. 60 cm).[1]

It can allegedly dig half a mile per hour (ca. 800 m/h), even through frozen soil.[1][2]
