Babangida Ruma
Babangida Kabir Ruma born February between 1990 and 1994) is an Education and Peace Activist who achieved international recognition and acclaim for his leading role in Training, mentoring and building the capacity of young people around the world. He has been actively involved in youth activities at both national and international levels championing youth empowerments through leadership and capacity building. He previously worked as a Team Leader during four days workshop on Climate change organised by World Youth Foundation,[1].[2] Ruma was appointed as Global Ambassador of the Commonwealth Youth Council which is The largest youth organization in the world, and later appointed as United Nations Global Ambassador for #TheirWorldatSchool Global Education Campaign, He is an American Ambassador to Model United Nations where he represent United State in every Model United Nations Conference, He has Attended more than 180 Seminers/Workshops/Capacity Bulding Programes both in )[3] Nigeria and Abroad. He is widely recognized as an Expert on Youth development Issues and empowerment and has trained Professionals and Young People on Technology, Enterprernurship and Leadership development. Ruma wrote and published A Book “Technology A Tool for Youth Empowerment”. upon his contribution to youth development in Nigeria and around the world, he was nominated to received Honorary Doctorate Degree from London Graduate School and Commonwealth University also to contest for the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Youth Council General election in Malta 2015. and nominated as the first ever Commonwealth Young Achiever in 2015 who’s his story of Community Organising Inspired more than 2.5 Million Young people from 53 countries.[4] Ruma is an active Youth leader in Nigeria who contributed to informed Youth policy dialogues in African Region and a Member of the Commonwealth Youth Council Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN), Member of the United Nation Interagency Network on Youth Development’s Working Group on Youth and Gender Equality, Member Young African Leaders Initiative Network, Member Young Leaders Council, Member Royal Commonwealth Society, First ever African International Student Ambassador representing Nigeria in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Malaysia.[5][6][5][7]
Personal life[edit]
Ruma was born between 1990 and 1994 in Batsari, Katsina, he attended capital school kaduna for his primary education and He then went to onward collage katsina for his Senior Secondary School Education He finished his senior secondary education and he was immediately admitted in to the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, where he studied Information and Communication Technology. He received the awards for: 2016 Social worker of the year, African Achievers Award Honour, Commonwealth Young achivers Award, Global Achievers Award and many many international and national awards. He was named among 100 most influential young Africans for 2016. He was also ranked among the top 20 most influential young leader in 2016. He writes on Technology, youth and leadership development, He inspires and mentors young people.Savana Tv[8][1]
Career[edit]
Ruma started his career as Community Organizer[9],is also a Technology and Computer Professional Adjudged as Best Trainer, Instructor and Mentor by many Technology Professionals in Nigeria and Abroad. Ruma has received several trainings at home and abroad where he studied Information Technology at Limkokwing University Of Creative Technology and Civic Leadership at the YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa Accra. He Obtained an Executive Certificate in Employee Behavior Management at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Leadership And Business Management Development (CELBMD) Africa, Kumbo, Cameroun. He is also a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) from the Internetworkz Institute Bangalore, India. He holds a certificate in social sector leadership from the Philanthropy University, Oakland United State.
Hailing from Nigeria, Ruma has extensive experience working on youth issues at the local, regional and international level having previously worked in various international organizations as well as starting his own initiatives. He is among the top Social Media Influencers in Nigeria and Among the most influnacial Young Africans.
Ruma has initiated and implemented numerous projects and campaigns with high school students, youth organizations and civil society institutions across Nigeria and Malaysia. Ruma is a firm believer in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and believes with the right investments in young people, they can contribute significantly towards attaining the goals. He’s also contributed to the consolidation of peace efforts in places like Nigeria, Gambia, Somalia, Niger Republic, Namibia, South Africa and Lake Chad.[2]
He is global champion of #GobacktoSchool campaign which is a broad-based coalition of National and Community based organization, Tech Companies, NGOs, Startups and Entrepreneurship Hubs dedicated to ensuring quality education for All. The Mission of #GoBackToSchool Campaign is to promote and expand access to education, improve the quality of leaning and to promote United Nations SDGs (Quality Education)[10][11]

In 2018 Ruma published a Book Technology A Tool for Youth Empowerment which is completely leverage entirely on the potential of new technologies as instrumental and epistemological Development for Youth. It also serves as a change mechanism in both interpersonal and intrapersonal domains. Furthermore, pedagogical approaches such as content creation, creativity, communication, collaboration, community building, and choices of conduct are also discussed.[14]
