Babatunde Idowu is a Nigerian educational administrator and a professor of Zoology.[1] He is the 3rd substantive Vice Chancellor of Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa, Edo State, Nigeria.[2][3][4]
Background and education[edit]
Babatunde Idowu, also known as Adewunmi, grew up in Ekiti State, Nigeria and had his secondary education at Ebekun Secondary Commercial School, Iresi between 1976 and 1978.[4] He later completed his secondary education at the Okemesi Grammar School, Okemesi-Ekiti In 1982.[2] In 1986, Idowu completed his bachelor's degree in Zoology from Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti).. He later proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, where he obtained a master's degree in Zoology (with specialty in Animal Physiology) in 1988. In 1995, Idowu completed his doctorate degree from the University of Ibadan. He also attended the Galilee International Management Institute, Israel in collaboration with Harvard University Extension School in 2012.[4][5]
Career[edit]
Professor Babatunde Idowu started his academic career in 1992 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of a full Professor. During his one-year Sabbatical leave, Idowu joined the services of the University of Lagos as an Associate Professor between January 2008 and April 2009. He was later appointed as the Dean of Students' Affairs at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.[6][7] In January 2020, Idowu assumed office as the 3rd Substantive Vice-Chancellor of Samuel Adegboyega University,[8] a faith-based University owned by the Apostolic Church, LAWNA Territory.[9]

Idowu is married to Professor Olufunmilayo Ajoke Idowu, a Professor of Parasitology at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria.[14]
