Babener & Associates is a Portland, Oregon law office established in 1974.[1] The law office was founded by Jeffrey A. Babener[2] and represents leading direct selling corporations in the United States and other countries.[1] Babener & Associates has represented some of the largest direct selling companies around the world, including Avon Products, Nikken, Melaleuca, Discovery Toys, and Nu Skin Enterprises.

Principal attorney, Jeffrey Babener, is an industry lawyer on case law and statutes that govern the network marketing, direct selling, multi-level marketing industry’s legitimacy.[3][4] Babener was named one of the Top MLM 500 by "Business For Home" magazine.[5] In 2010, Jeffrey Babener was honored with the international Best of the Best Award from the MLMIA for his lifelong contribution to the image of the network marketing industry.[6]

He is a regular speaker at the Direct Selling Association's seminars[7] and a previous member of the Multi-Level Marketing Association's (MLMIA) Board of Directors,[8] where he was honored for his influence in progressing law and professionalism in the network marketing industry.[9] Babener serves on the Direct Selling Association’s DSA Lawyer’s Council and the Government Relations Committee,[10] and contributes educational material to The MLM-Distributor Rights Association (DRA).[11] He chaired the Oregon State Bar Committee on Judicial Administration, the task force charged with recommending allocation of judicial positions and staffing in Oregon. From 1972-73, Babener was an editor for the University Southern California Law Review (Volumes 45-46),[12] and published the scholarly article "Durational Residence Requirements for State and Local Office: A Violation of Equal Protection."[13]

Babener was a contributing author to "The Network Marketing Magazine" in 2009 and 2010.[14] He is a contributing author of Network Marketing for Dummies,[15] The New Professionals: The Rise of Network Marketing as the Next Major Profession[16] Network Marketing: Another Form of Direct Sales,[17] MLM Magic: How an Ordinary Person can Build an Extra-Ordinary Networking Business from Scratch,[18] Multilevel Marketing: The Definitive Guide to America's Top MLM Companies,[19] and How to Start Your Network Marketing, Modern Party Plan or Web Affiliate Company.[20] In 1998, Babener assisted in authoring an MLM textbook titled Direct Sales An Overview.[21] In addition, Babener is commonly used as a primary source in such scholarly articles as "The Atlantic Jaw Journal."
