BadmintonPlanet is a non-profit web site that aims at promoting and encouraging fan participation for the sport of badminton. It offers the latest badminton news, photos, rankings and video highlights for badminton.
History[edit]
Vincent Liew founded BadmintonPlanet in 2002 at a small storage space in his landlord's basement in San Jose, California. He left the team in 2007, and then rejoined and restructured BadmintonPlanet in 2010. The website has since become a highly cited and popular website for the sport of badminton.

Lee Chong Wei's doping incident[edit]
BadmintonPlanet mobilized its followers to provide overwhelming support during former World No. 1 player Lee Chong Wei's doping[1] investigation between 2014 and 2015.
It was able to gather 6,692 signatures in ipetitions.com to support the Malaysian badminton legend.
BadmintonPlanet's YouTube video was retweeted by Lee Chong Wei[2]and became the top tweet on his official Twitter account as he went to Amsterdam to attend the anti-doping trial.
Carsten Mogensen's brain surgery[edit]
Badmintonplanet provided in-depth coverage during Carsten Mogensen's [3][4]sudden collapse due to ruptured aortic aneurysms in his brain in 2016. It's article that titled "Carsten Mogensen stable after brain surgery" has been widely cited in several large Wikipedias in the world.
Lee–Lin rivalry[edit]
The Lee–Lin rivalry has been badminton's best rivalry in the last twenty years. Lee Chong Wei's return to Malaysia after successful early stage nose cancer treament[edit]
BadmintonPlanet broke the news on October 5th, 2018 that Lee Chong Wei's had successfully completed his early-stage nose cancer treatment in Taiwan and would return to Malaysia on October 7th, 2018[6]. However, the President of Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM), Mohamad Norza Zakaria denied the news when he was asked by the media in the afternoon of October 5th. Nevertheless, BAM eventually issued an official statement on October 6th to confirm that Lee would indeed return to Malaysia on October 7th, 2018.
