Baduku (Kannada: ಬದುಕು) is a 2001 Kannada language novel by Geetha Nagabhushan. The novel was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2004 by the Government of India.[1] [2] [3]
The novel has also been awarded the Manik Bai Patil Pratishthan award, Attimabbe award, Sir M. Visvesvaraya Decennial Literary award, Rajyotsava award of the Gulbarga University, and Goruru Sahitya Award instituted by Goruru Pratishtana.[4] [5]
The novel describes the lives of three generations of the Jamadar family in a rural community in Karnataka, touching on issues such as caste, social hierarchy and landless laborers in Indian society.[6]
