Baek Zu-ho (Korean: 백주호, born July 4, 1996),[1] also known by his stage name Zuho (Korean: 주호), is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, actor, voice actor, composer, dancer and record producer. He made his debut in 2016 as the main rapper of the K-pop boy group SF9.
Early life and education[edit]
Zuho was born in Dongsomun-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul on July 4, 1996. His family is comprised of himself, his parents and a younger brother. He is a former student of Yeoksam Middle School and Apgujeong High School.
Career[edit]
Pre-debut[edit]
He was announced as one of three trainees of FNC Entertainment's male trainee team NEOZ School on December 15, 2015.[2] A 6-year trainee after joining the agency at the age of 13-14, he was a participant in the survival show d.o.b: Dance or Band as a member of the NEOZ Dance Team.[3] On June 29, 2016, he and the other eight members of the same team won the competition, in which their official name was subsequently revealed to be SF9 (Sensational First 9, later Sensational Feeling 9) afterward.[4]
Prior to debuting with SF9, Zuho, along with Rowoon, Dawon and Chani, appeared on MBC Every 1's drama Click Your Heart in March 2016.[5]
Debut with SF9[edit]
He officially debuted as a member of SF9 with the single album Feeling Sensation on October 5, 2016.[6]
Solo activities[edit]
Zuho appeared as the featured artist as well as co-writing the lyrics to collaborative B-side track "Come to Me" from the extended play Do n Do by fellow senior FNC labelmate and F.T. Island member Lee Hong-gi, in October 2018.[7] He then reappeared on the song "Twilight", a digital single collaboration with solo artist Kim Ju-na, in January 2019, also as a featured artist.[8]
In November 2020, Zuho was confirmed to appear in the web drama Meal Kid along with Jung Dae-hyun. In the former's case, he would be playing the role of idol group Cupid Boys leader Jaekyung.[9]
On March 2, 2021, Zuho renewed his exclusive contract with FNC Entertainment.[10]
He and the other members of SF9 were announced to be participating in the 2021 reality survival show Kingdom: Legendary War, which aired every Thursday on Mnet between April 1 and June 3, 2021,[11] arriving in sixth place.[12]
Zuho starred in TVING's hip hop medical sitcom Emergency, which premiered on October 22, 2021.[13] In 2022, his third appearance as a featured artist was in the digital single album "We Heung" by YJP. He also reappared as a featured artist for the fourth time in a row in the song "Tick-Tack" from the studio album Born Gene by Kim Jae-joong, which was released later the same year in September.[14]
On October 26, 2022, it was confirmed that Zuho would be starring in a new drama, playing the role of leading character Jo Yoo Jae.[15]
