Baiju N Nair is a Malayalam Automobile Journalist. Currently, he is the chief editor of the bilingual Automobile Magazine "Smartdrive". He also hosts the Asianet News weekly show "Smart Drive". He was awarded Kerala Sahithya Academy Award for Travelogues in the year 2018 for his book "LONDONILEKKU ORU ROAD YATHRA"
Career
He joined as a sub-editor in Mathrubhoomi Daily in 1994. Noticing his interests, he was given the opportunity to handle weekly columns about newly launched automobiles. In 1996 the programme "Auto Show" was launched in Asianet Television. But due to various reasons, the programme came to an end with a few episodes. Later in 2004, he started the automobile magazine "Top Gear" in partnership. He left the same after 4 years. He anchored "Indiavision Autoshow" in Indiavision news channel for 7 years. In 2012 he started his own new Bilingual Automobile Magazine "Smartdrive". Later he started hosting the programme "Smartdrive" in Asianet News Channel.[1]. He started road travel to London from Kochi on June 2014 along with Film Director Lal Jose and traveller Suresh Joseph. But Baiju part away from the mission on 39th day of the trip due to the opinion differences with Suresh Joseph. He further travelled to London by bus. The book "LONDONILEKKU ORU ROAD YATHRA" covers his experience in that travel[2].
Awards
He was awarded Kerala Sahithya Academi Award for Travelogues in the year 2018 for his book "LONDONILEKKU ORU ROAD YATHRA"[3]
