The Baikal Ocean, also known as the Pan-Asian Ocean, is a future superocean that is predicted to surrounded the supercontinent Aurica. According to the Aurica theory, a new rift will develop in Eurasia which will split it into two around 35 million years from now, creating a brand new ocean down the centre of Eurasia. The ocean itself is named after Lake Baikal in Russia, which forms part of the hypothesised rift.
