Bailian Group
Bailian Group is a Chinese holding company formed in 2003 by the former Shanghai 100 (Group) Co., Ltd., Hualian (Group) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Friendship (Group) Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Materials (Group) Head Office. The group includes five listed companies:[1]
- Bailian Co., Ltd. (Shanghai Stock Exchange: 600827)
- Lianhua Supermarket (Hong Kong Stock Exchange: 0980)
- Wumao Co., Ltd.
- Friendship Co., Ltd.
- First Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
- Yong'an Department Store, which was renamed from the original Shanghai Hualian Commercial Building.[2].
With more than 90,000 employees and more than 170,000 employees, the group is the largest commercial retail group in China.
The business scope includes department stores, standard supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, shopping malls, brand discount stores, professional specialty stores, e-commerce and logistics, etc. The main brands include: First Department Store, Yong'an Department Store, Oriental Commercial Building, First Eight Hundred Ban, Bailian South, Western Suburbs, Central, Youyi City and other shopping malls, Bailian E City Network; Bailian Outlets brand discount stores and Kesongfang, Haomeijia, Hualian Jimaisheng, Wu Liangcai and Maochang glasses, etc.[3]
There are nearly 6,000 business outlets in 25 provinces and cities across the country.[2] Bailian Group ranked second among the top 100 Chinese chains in 2012.[3] Ranked 84th among the top 500 Chinese enterprises.[4] It also ranked 466th among the Fortune 500, with an operating income of $25.2 billion.[5]

Bailian Xijiao Shopping Mall
Bailian Xijiao Shopping Mall (Chinese: 百联西郊购物中心) is a large outdoor shopping center classified as a super-regional shopping mall, in Shanghai, China. It is located at No. 88 Xianxia Road, Changning District. It is owned and built by Bailian Group. Anchors include supermarkets, department stores, professional stores, themed restaurants, specialty stores, entertainment and fitness and gyms including the Friendship Department Store, Century Lianhua, HOLA Teli House, Decathlon, and Yongle Home Appliances. The leasable area is 109,000 square metres (1,170,000 sq ft), placing it in the super-regional mall/shopping center category.[7][6]
The center underwent extensive renovation including covering the center to protect shoppers from wind and rain, Bailian Xijiao reopened in December 2017. The mall's new core concept centers around three physical curves, all expressing themes of health, vitality and sustainability. Thhe first curve is a layered "floating belt" with plants connecting the buildings to the adjacent streets and waterfront; The second curve centers around experiential merchants, creating an organic "life circle"; the third curve consists of social meeting places which leverage digital intelligence, and aim to strengthen a "sense of belonging".[8][9]
