Bajram Pasha - Isa Beg Mosque (Albanian: Xhamia Bajram Pasha - Isa Beg) is the central and largest mosque in Mitrovica, Kosovo. It is located in the center of the city on the site of the old Isa Beg Mosque built in 1530, which was in poor condition after the Kosovo War of 1998-1999. Construction on the mosque finished in 2014. Money for its construction was donated by the mufti of Bayrampaşa in Istanbul. All materials were imported from Turkey, including the sand, which earned the building the nickname "Sand Mosque" (Xhamia e Zallit) by the Albanian inhabitants of Mitrovica.[1]
Xhamia Bajram Pasha – Isa Beg holds the title for the largest mosque in Kosovo. Built in the classical neo-Ottoman style, it is topped by a large dome and framed by two 48 m high minarets. It covers 2,500m2 and can accommodate 4,200 worshippers.[2]
