Bakhytbek Baiseitov (born May 14, 1958 in Alma-Ata, Kazakh SSR) - economist, financier, businessman, Chairman of the Board of Directors and a shareholder of CenterCredit, a mainstay of Kazakhstan's banking sector.
One of the richest people in Kazakhstan, according to the Forbes Kazakhstan 2022 rating.[1] His fortune has been estimated at $250 million. He was on the list of 50 most influential businessmen in Kazakhstan in 2022.[2]

He was born in Alma-Ata (Kazakh SSR) on May 14, 1958. Bakhytbek's father was Rymbek Baiseitov, who served as the Minister of Finance of the Kazakh SSR from 1974 to 1985.[3][4][5]
Education[edit]
Baiseitov graduated from the Moscow Financial Institute in 1979.[6] In 1981, he graduated from the Alma-Ata Institute of National Economy.[7] From 1982 to 1986 − Postgraduate study, Department of Money Circulation and Credit, Alma-Ata Institute of National Economy.[8] In 1987, Baiseitov graduated from the Moscow Institute of National Economy named after Plekhanov, Advanced Training Faculty.[9]

Bakhytbek Baiseitov worked as an economist at the Alma-Ata Regional Office of the USSR State Bank, as well as a Senior Economist and Deputy Department Head at the Kazakh Republican Office of the USSR State Bank.[10][11] In 1988, he became a chairman of the board of the Alma-Ata Central Cooperative Bank,[12] then Kazakhstan Central Joint Stock Bank (KCJSB) Centrbank,[13]. Then he occupied a position of a chairman of the Supervisory Board of this bank (renamed Bank CenterCredit JSC in March 1997).[14] From 1993 to 2004 − chairman of the Supervisory Board of CJSC Kazakhstan International Bank,[15] and currently he is the President and Chairman at Atameken Financial and Industrial Group.[16][17][18] From 1997 to the present − Chairman of the Association of Banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan.[19][20][21][22]
Other positions[edit]
Over the years, he served as a president of the Congress of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, co-chairman of the US-Kazakhstan Business Council, president of the Association of Banks of Kazakhstan.[23] From 1998 to 2003, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of Bank Turan−Alem OJSC, as well as a member of the Council of Entrepreneurs under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.[24] In 2009, he served as a vice president of the International Banking Council.[25] From 2013 to March 2020, he worked as a president of the Financial & Banking Association of Euro-Asian Cooperation (FBA EAC); ),[26] since then he has been leading the Business Council of the Financial & Banking Association of Euro-Asian Cooperation (FBA EAC) as its chairman.[27]
