Baleful Creed is a Northern Irish Heavy Rock band from Belfast, formed in 2009 by vocalist/guitarist Greg ‘Fin’ Finlay and guitarist John Allen. The band took their name from Allen’s previous group that Finlay had jammed with in 1993.

Widely associated as a Heavy Rock band, the band’s sound incorporates elements of Stoner Rock, Heavy Metal, Southern Rock, Grunge and doomy Blues Rock. Since their formation, Baleful Creed have released two full studio albums and one EP.

The band state their influences as simply Black Sabbath, Danzig and Fireball Ministry, however other notable influences from the following bands can also be heard, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, The Cult and Kyuss.[1]

History[edit]

Formed in 2009, their debut ‘Killing Time’ EP surfaced at the tail end of 2009 before a change in recording studio and working with Neal Calderwood in Manor Park, lead to the sonically improved follow up EP’s – ‘Buried Beneath’ in late 2011 and 2012’s simply titled ‘III’ EP. At this stage, all three EP’s were only available on the band’s Bandcamp digital online store.

With increasing interest from fans both online and at gigs asking for hard copy audio discs, the band took the decision to merge the last two Manor Park EP’s, remix and remaster them into a full debut album for final release on CD. This self-titled debut album was released on 29 December 2013.

The second half of 2014 saw Greer and Jeffers join the band. Writing and recording in sessions each quarter over the 2016 year – the band pieced together the follow up album ‘Seismic Shifter’, released on 6 June 2017. This was again recorded at Manor Park Studios.

Their music has spread across rock radio from initially Northern Irish DJ’s to the UK’s Planet Rock digital station and also around the world on internet rock radio shows. The band have topped the most played charts on Hard Rock Hell Radio five times. They have featured in international interviews and reviews in magazines such as Powerplay[2] and Fireworks. Baleful creed have provided support to a number of international touring acts such as Firebird (UK), Ronnie James Dio tribute – Rising (USA), Jex Thoth (USA), Massive Wagons (UK) and Void Moon (SWE).

Outside of playing in Ireland, the band have appeared at UK mainland festivals such as Hard Rock Hell - Highway to Hell, Glasgow; Wildfire Festival 2016, Scotland and Rockwich 2017, England. 2018 sees the band take the ‘Seismic Shifter’ tour to Dumfries, Glasgow, Warrington, London and the Communion of Rock Festival, Wales.

Baleful Creed songs have appeared in independent movie releases Fall of Grace (2017) and Anna (2017).
