Baliqees Salaudeen (born November 20, 1997) is a Social and Climate Activist, Sustainable Development Advocate and Communications and Media Strategist.[1] She is the curator of Unlocking Potentials, Chief Executive and Founder of Bays Planet Foundation, the President of Girl Up Nigeria and Team lead of #PickThatTrash.[2][3][4]
Career[edit]
For over 5 years, she works and volunteers in the social and sustainable development space in Nigeria, her activities and involvement includes environmental management and advocacy, Gender Based Violence, Child's Right, Climate Change Activism, Youth, Community and SDGs Development.
She leads Environmental platforms in Kwara State and Nigeria, including PickThatTrash, North Central Climate Conference, Climate Strike and Fridays For Future.[5][6]
Baliqees is a fellow of the African Youth Leadership Fellowship Program and she holds an E-MBA from Accra Business School in Accra, Ghana.
Aside onsite activities and projects, Baliqees uses her social media space to advocate for social development, while encouraging her followers to be Global Citizens by taking sustainable action to solve social development issues together.
Over the years, Baliqees has been engaged by several organizations and Institutions, including UNDP Nigeria, ICCDI, YIAGA, Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, DEAN Initiative, ONE, KnowCOVID19, Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi), Federal and State Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Office of Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, NOA, IPCR, Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs and social development, Kwara State Ministry of Youth and Sports development, amongst others.
Baliqees' social impact projects through several organizations, have reached over one million people both offline and online."
Social Activism[edit]
In 2020, Baliqees Salaudeen, "the leader of the PickThatTrash group, expressed gratitude to the management of Quality Packaging Limited and called on the government to make Nigeria more suitable for recycling companies and sustainability-inclined investors."[7][8]
Early life and education[edit]
Baliqees hailed from Offa LGA, Igosun, Oyun LGA, Kwara State. She is currently a final year student of Kwara State University, (2018-2021). In 2019, Baliqees attended Accra Business School, Executive M-MBA in Leadership and Management. Previously, she bagged an OND in Mass Communication from Kwara State Polytechnic (2014-2016). In 2014, Baliqees finished from Government Girls Day Secondary School, Oke-Erin, Ilorin.
