Bambie Thug (born 1994) is an Irish singer and songwriter.

Early life[edit]

Bambie Thug’s father is from Sweden and their mother is from Cork. [1]

They grew up in the County Cork town of Macroom. They were diagnosed as dyslexic as a child [2] and so didn’t study Irish in school, instead having additional English lessons.

They studied dance and musical theatre in London.[3] They changed their name after coming out of college as well as coming out as both queer and non-binary[4]

Career[edit]

As an artist Bambie Thug combines strong visual symbolism with their music, describing their constantly changing image as a way of rebelling against any expectations put on them.[5] Bambie Thug was selected to compete in the Irish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song "Doomsday Blues".[6]
