'Baniya' Baniya belongs to Chhetri's community of Nepal. Many people are confused in the two caste "Baniya" and "Bania".Actually, "Baniya" are Chhetri from "Khas" group whereas "Bania" are people of Terai of"Baisha" group. History JethaBuda Jaya Baniya JethaBuda Jaya Baniyawas a great warrior who played vital role in unification of Nepal. Another interesting fact was, JethaBuda Jaya Baniya had almost same appearance like Prithivi Narayan Shah. This helped for protection of Prithivi Narayan Shah while returning from Banaras in 'Barun Chauki'
In 1812 BS, 'Siranchowk' was attacked by Parvat, Lamjung, Tanahun, and other district of 'Chaubise Rajya'. At that time,Jetha Buda Baniya along with aa Gorkhalis united to protect 'Siranchowk'. They won the war and protected 'Siranchowk'. Later, it was renamed to "Baniya Bandhu Sahayog Samiti" The main objective of this group is: 1)To protect its culture and identity. 2) To work collectively for nation. 3) To work for the search of origin and history of "Baniya".
