Banned Frequency
Banned Frequency is an Indian rock band formed in 2012 in Kolkata. Formed in late 2012, in Kolkata, their music is flavoured by a blend of alternative rock and hard rock. The band rose to mainstream fame in the late 2016s with their hit songs like 'Biswasghatok (Original)', 'Hawa Hawa (Cover Version)', 'Kallu Mama (Cover Version)' and 'Kajra Mohabbat Wala (Cover Version)'.
The current line-up includes vocalist Argha Mozumdar, guitarist Ayan Chakraborty, bassist Debalok Roy.
History[edit]
2012-2013: Formation and early days[edit]
Banned Frequency was formed in the winter of 2012. Most of the band members had just completed college graduation and had a lot of spare time in their hands. Subhajit & Ritam brought Argha Mozumdar, Abel Bernard and Biswanath together to form a band. They first performed at NSHM Knowledge Campus band competition.
Biswanath left the band mid 2013, when JB Junior joined as a drummer for the band. The band gigged the local underground scene and got recognised as a cover band.
Subhajit brought Aritra Chakraborty as guitarist when Abel Bernard decided to go abroad for work in late 2013.
2014: Second journey[edit]
In the early summer of 2014 Subhajit brought in Ayan chakraborty as a guitarist when Aritra decided to leave the band for studies. Just after 2 months band's bassist Ritam decided to leave the band due to personal issues. Argha brought in Krishanu Halder as a bassist for the band. Banned Frequency started performing in local gigs like for RED FM, 91.9 Friends Fm, Techno India College, Deshbandhu Girls college & Etc.
2015-2018: Final formation[edit]
Early 2015 Jb Junior decided to part way from bands and Argha brought in Rajdeep Karmakar as the drummer.
During the years following their debut in 2012, Banned Frequency went on performing in numerous concerts and college fests like MOM (Fest of ABV-IIITM Gwalior), Recstacy (Fest of NIT DURGAPUR), RAW Mortality (Twice) (Marine Engineering College, Kolkata), Xlerate (Fest of XLRI Jmshedpur), Eccentron (Techno India College, Salt Lake Kolkata), Midnapore Medical College and MIT Bankura (Mallabhum Institute of Technology).
In the mid of 2018, Krishanu and Rajdeep decided to leave the band. Since, Banned Frequency was doing continuous gigs and was releasing songs, music videos Argha brought in Debalok as a bassist and Rohan as temp drummer to cope up with the situation.
Finally in the year 2019, Ayan brought in Abir Chatterjee as a permanent drummer.
