Barbara Sobel is a promoter and radio producer.
Background[edit]
Sobel began in the music business in the 1980s, publishing fan newsletters for some of the most popular groups of that era. Her love of music evolved into running fan forums for bands both domestically and internationally.
Sobel Promotions[edit]
Barbara Sobel, the daughter of author Robert Sobel, began her promotion company in 2010, promoting music to radio stations, DJs, Record pools and record labels for radio airplay. Working with all genres of music, she has promoted singles from artists such as Owen Paul, Marcella Detroit, Tight Fit, Inaya Day, Sigue Sigue Sputnik Electronic, KC & The Sunshine Band, Coco Star and from DJs such as StoneBridge, Bimbo Jones, Leo Frappier and Serbscian.
Radio Stations[edit]
There are several stations run by Barbara Sobel forming the Sobel Nation Network of radio stations which consists of: Sobel Nation Radio FM (www.sobelnationradio.fm) which has three stations. The Sobel Nation station plays dance music from Mainstream and Indie Artists and mix shows, Sobel Promotions Station which plays only songs being promoted by Sobel Promotions, and Sobel Classics playing the best classic dance music.
Rainbow Radio FM (www.rainbowradio.fm) is a 24/7 News, Entertainment and talk radio station geared to the LGBT Community, which is a Donald Trump Resistance Station.
Dance World Radio FM (www.danceworldradio.fm) consists of 2 Stations. Dance World Radio plays the best mainstream dance music and has mix shows, Indie World Radio play only dance music from Indie Artists, House World Radio plays the best in House Music.
All states are licensed and spins are reported to ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, SoundExchange, & SOCAN (Canada) for royalty payments.
Video Station[edit]
As part of the Sobel Nation network, Barbara owns Video Tea Room which plays different genres of videos.
Record label[edit]
Sobel started Sobel Nation Records to release songs from indie acts and to help them control the promotional aspects of their songs. She has released songs from Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Rosie Romero, Firedance, Dez Milito, Eric Dodge, Funk3d, and Silvio Bisio.
Awards[edit]
Barbara Sobel was one of five nominated for Best Music Promoter for the 2012 JustCircuit Awards.[1] She was also nominated for best promoter for New Music Weekly in 2010.[2] In 2015 and 2016 she won Promoter Of The Year at the JustCircuit Awards [1]
