Barbie Castro is an entrepreneur, a real estate agent, an actress, a producer, and a mother. She was born in Miami, Florida. She has been the recipient of twenty-one awards and nine nominations for her works in the film industry.
Early Life[edit]
During her childhood, Barbie Castro worked as a singer, dancer, but she wanted to earn a living as an actress. When she grew up, Castro devoted her time to starting a family, and she got married and had two daughters Taylor and Rhys Castro.[1] Once her children got older, she became more involved with acting and film production again.
Career[edit]
In 2011, Barbie Castro’s acting, and filmmaking career began when she formed Concord Films LLC.[2] When this company was set up, Castro starred and produced Conduit (2011), a film by Alyn Darnay. Castro won many Best Actress Awards in the 2011 Film Festival Circuit, the Best Actress Award at the New York City International Film Festival, Buffalo Niagara Film Festival, and FMTPA Crystal Reel Awards. In 2011, Castro also wrote, produced, and co-directed a Pilot called Miami 3 Oh 5 (2012), which won a Silver Award at the 2011 California Film Awards in the Television Pilot Division, and the Silver Sierra Award at the 2012 Yosemite International Film Festival in the Television Pilot Competition.
The short Conduit made money at the box office, to the point that in 2013 Castro was given the title Semi-Finalist in the NexTv Acting and Directing Talent Search for her hard work. Conduit earned 16 accolades, especially the Best Produced Script at the FMPTA Crystal Reel Awards, the Golden Reel Award at the Nevada Film Festival and Best Faith Based Film at the Action on Films International Film Festival.
In 2013, Assumed Killer (2013) starring Armand Assante, Casper Van Dien, Eric Roberts, and Castro was broadcast on Lifetime. In 2015, she produced and co-starred in Patient Killer with Van Dien. 2017 she appeared in Boyfriend Killer and Girlfriend Killer both on A&E networks. She later was in Killer Island (2018), Dream Killer (2019), and Marriage Killer (2019).
The movie Assumed Killer movie (2013), tells the story of an award-winning journalist, Daria Valdez Morrow, played by Barbie Castro. She is investigating several murders committed by a serial killer based locally. One day the reporter gets into a car accident and loses her memory. The second movie in the Killer series of films known as Patient Killer (2015), tells the story of a doctor Victoria Wrightmar, played by Barbie Castro whose guilt is eating her alive over the death of her patient Dylan McNalt. One day a new patient Blaire Bennet, played by Barbie Castro, comes in for therapy, and the therapist Victoria realizes this woman has similar symptoms to her old patient Dylan.
Castro came out with the production Boyfriend Killer (2017), which is about a mother who is still in grief over the death of her son, played by Barbie Castro, and begins to sense that his girlfriend Kate Mansi set it up. The next movie Girlfriend Killer released in the same year, was about a businesswoman who becomes the target of a customer’s insane obsession, when she shows sympathy for him after his girlfriend publicly rejects him.[3] Castro plays the role of Carmen Ruiz in this movie.
Killer Island released in 2018, is a film about a woman named Ashley, played by Barbie Castro. During the movie Ashley becomes the target of a murder plot, after discovering several deaths in the area. The new upcoming Killer movies are currently in production and are set to be released in 2019.
