Barrandov News (formerly Barrandov Muzika, then Barrandov Family) was the fourth television channel of the TV Barrandov group. It was the next channel launched by the TV Barrandov Group after Kino Barrandov, which began broadcasting in April, and Barrandov Plus, which launched in May of the same year.
From the day of its launch, the station, then known as Barrandov Muzika, was broadcast on the terrestrial Regional Network 8 and via satellite Skylink and some IPTV. On 1st January 2017, the day it was renamed Barrandov Family, it ceased broadcasting on satellite. On the same day, it entered the Slovak terrestrial multiplex 2, where it replaced the outgoing TV Markíza. [3] In April of the same year, it also entered DVB-T2 Transition Network 12.[4] At the end of June 2018, the station exited Slovak terrestrial broadcasting[5] and on 7 January 2020, already as Barrandov News, it ceased broadcasting in Czech DVB-T2. On 31 October 2020, as a result of the shutdown of Regional Network 8, it definitively ceased terrestrial distribution. It also ceased to be distributed by Kuki, SledováníTV and T-Mobile TV. Since November 2020, it has been broadcast only via Vodafone TV, UPC and Lepší.TV.[7][8][9] On 14 November 2020, the server parabola.cz reported that the station would cease broadcasting at midnight on 29-30 November.[10] However, this was only the removal of the programme from the UPC and Vodafone TV offer. The complete switch-off did not occur until a day later, at midnight from 30 November to 1 December.
History

The music channel Barrandov Muzika from the portfolio of the Barrandov TV group was renamed Barrandov Family on 1 January 2017. The programme was intended to appeal to a wider target group than the original Barrandov Muzika. Approximately half of the content was to consist of the Barrandov Group's own work.
Barrandov Muzika ended under this name and its broadcast schedule on 31 December 2016.[1]
On 29 October 2018, the name was changed to Barrandov News. The main reason for the change was the programming scheme - the change was mainly in the evening broadcast: every weekday, Barrandov News broadcast Jaromír Soukup's programmes. The station also began to broadcast mainly reruns of its own programmes, such as Nebezpečné vztahy, Aféry – neuvěřitelné životní příběhy, Soudkyně Barbara, Soudce Alexander and others. It also offered a daily teleshopping block, Klenot TV, which was moved to Kino Barrandov in January 2020. It also aired films from February to April 2019.
Two days before the start of the broadcast, the station accidentally showed its logo on Barrandov Family, which lasted approximately 2 hours.[2]
Programme
On weekdays, the station broadcast exclusively Jaromír Soukup's programmes and teleshopping, on weekends mainly programmes of its own creation.
