Biography[edit]

Professional Life[edit]

Barry F. Lorenzetti decided to start his own financial services firm on December 14, 1987, after leaving his position at Sedgwick, an insurance brokerage company sold to Marsh & McLennan in 1998. He brought Joseph Paré, Tom Sleeper and Besso (a brokerage firm based in London) along with him. After several meetings, Besso agreed to take a 70% stake in the new business. Joe Paré, Tom Sleeper and Barry F. Lorenzetti took the remaining 30%. At this point, Mr. Lorenzetti decided to open an office in the same building as his former employer.

The following years saw a number of major expansions. Mr. Lorenzetti now leads more than 600 professionals working in twelve cities and six provinces throughout Canada. BFL CANADA is also represented in more than 120 countries around the world through an international partnership with Lockton Global LLP.

In its industry, BFL is the largest Canadian firm owned by its own employees.
