Barry L. Conrad
Barry L. Conrad (1941 – April 3, 1996) was an American executive and government adviser. Conrad was killed in the 1996 Croatia USAF CT-43 crash.[1]
Career
Conrad was the chairman and chief executive officer of Barrington Group in Miami.[2] Conrad was also an influential investor.[3] In 1995, he struck a deal between Barrington Group and Choice Hotels International, to be the chief franchiser of over 200 of Choice Hotel's inns, however the deal collapsed with his death in 1996.[4]
Personal life
Conrad was the father of Nicole Maxwell, the head of human resources at Barrington International Hospitality Inc., a company with more than twelve major clients. Maxwell said that her father's death was a major loss to Miami's business community.[5]
Death
Conrad died on April 3, 1996, along with Secretary of Commerce, Ron Brown, several commerce department officials, and business leaders.[6]
