Barry Pang
Barry Pang is an entrepreneur who has founded numerous businesses over the past forty years. He has been described as the 'pioneer of Kung Fu' in Australia when he founded one of the first Kung Fu schools in Melbourne in 1974 and produced many state and national Kung Fu champions.
The Barry Pang Kung Fu Schools expanded rapidly in the 1970s in Melbourne's CBD, decentralised into the suburbs in the 1980s and went into universities in the 1990s. Meanwhile, Barry had diversified interests in property, the share market, and various businesses. In the late 1990s, Barry began an art consultancy firm dealing in Australian fine art. He created a niche market providing art investment seminars to private banks and conducting art auctions to raise funds for charities and schools.
Barry is now working with his son John on revolutionary medical projects through Lateral Pharma Ltd & encouraging his other son Chris Pang in his acting career in Hollywood. After the success of Crazy Rich Asians, it seems he is well on his way!
Barry's current major preoccupation is the Sport of Kings, horse racing. He was involved in racing with Marwong winning the Caulfield Guineas in 1987. Reconnecting with his early passion for thoroughbreds, he joined the stable of the First Lady of Racing, Gai Waterhouse. His horse Fiorente won the 2013 Melbourne Cup!
Barry also conducted free seminars called Wealth Creation for youth, aiming to increase financial wisdom and nurture a concern for others. He now hopes to raise funds for the needy, combining his years of business experience with his knowledge of the racing industry.
